Labyrinth by Kate Mosse

In 2005, I traveled to Carcassonne in Languedoc France as part of our tri-annual choir tour. For me this region and particularly Carcassonne were one of the highlights of our tour. Perhaps because it contained my first castle or perhaps simply because it is so beautiful.

Either way, Kate Mosse's novel (published in 2005). Took me straight back to this beloved region. First of all, it is a well-written tale involving the mystery of the Holy Grail. If you loved The Da Vinci Code you'll love Labyrinth. The story takes place in 2005 with Alice (a volunteer on an archeologigal dig), as well as in 1209 with Alais (a citizen of the Chateax Comtal). Consequently, the reader learns the history of the region, the people, the religions, as well as, as places you may want to visit today. I certainly want to go back to see what I missed.

Nicely, the heroines travel to various French cities including Beziers, Toulouse and Charters in their related quests. It was well worth the read.
